When your tooth has been abridged a lot and there is not enough structure to retain a crown your tooth needs to be build up. After endodontic treatment due to the removal of tissues or due to caries your tooth is not enough and it has to be build up. This can be accomplished sometimes with a prefabricated post which is cemented inside the canal and it will retain a core.
